Above all, entertainment is fun! A wide variety of games and activities ensure that everyone living with us at Brookside begins and ends their day with a smile on their face. From movie nights to live music shows, there’s no end to the list of fun activities that are enjoyed by our residents.
There are many fun and engaging activities for our care home residents to get involved in and enjoy on a day to day basis such as bingo to arts and crafts and is a great way to develop relationships with our residents and get to know them even better.
Having a timetable of games and activities gives our residents a structure to their days and something to look forward to of a morning
Staying Active
Exercising to music, walks around the village and taking lunch trips are just some of the activities that help everyone living at Brookside stay active.
Outings / Trips Out
Organising Outings is extremely important to us and of course, our resident’s happiness and it’s important we keep everyone active and engaged with the outside world. We organise both group and individual activities; such as outings to Langton Garden Centre and Tea Room, and Foxton Locks.
The Swan Inn @ Braybrooke
We are blessed to have such a lovely pub on our doorstep, serving home cooked food and beautiful gardens.
Often we take a walk down to the local pub; Residents and staff enjoying a summer drink

Arts & Creating
We also run regular in-house classes such as baking, arts and crafts and flower arranging as residents can put their own individuality into designing them.

Birthdays
We can make as much or as little fuss as you would like for birthdays with us. Family members are always welcome and cakes can be arranged.

Puzzles & Games
Board games and card games are a great way of encouraging social interaction and there are lots of old favourites. We choose games which are suited to our residents. For example, Call To Mind is a game that has been designed for dementia sufferers.
Jigsaws & Fuzzy Felts
Many residents love doing jigsaw puzzles and fuzzy felts trigger old memories providing a genuine sense of enjoyment.

Film Nights
Film nights with subtitles are inclusive and residents can talk about the film afterwards with their friends — much more sociable than watching TV alone.
Sing-a-longs & Live Music
Getting a group together to sing songs can be a really uplifting way to relax and smile. The choice of songs needs to be tailored to the residents as it is important that they are songs that they are familiar with and which bring back memories. Research suggests that music can stimulate the body’s natural feel good chemicals. Live music sessions at Brookside can enrich our home and are great for boosting a mood and energising!
Musicians can help residents to reconnect with the music that they’ve always loved.
Anne Marie – ‘Dusty and Friends’ brings a magical tribute to Brookside. Great voices of the 50s and 60s come to Brookside, performed by vocalist Ann Marie.

Best of British Garden Party

Christmas @ Brookside
Every Xmas Santa comes to visit: The residents and care team at Brookside enjoyed our Christmas Party: Santa Claus was a big surprise at the start of the day as he turned up to hand out presents to each of the residents. Residents opened their gifts and talked about what they had received. It was great to watch them interacting with each other and it provided plenty of conversation. Xmas is completed with an afternoon of festive decorating, mince pies and mulled wine.
